Two South-African cruiserweights – local Roodepoort hero Johnny Muller and Thabiso Mchenu – traded blows at Emperors Palace this past weekend. The vacant South African and African Boxing Union Cruiserweight titles were up for grabs.
Mchunu won the match with a unanimous points decision in 12 rounds to prove that he is not past his best after he was knocked out by WBO Cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
However, for Muller this was his fourth loss in his last five fights.
The scores were 120–108 on all three judges’ scorecards.
