The accident, a partial head-on collision, happened at about 6.30am on Gordon Road near the intersection with Bergbron Drive in Bergbron. According to Nick Dollman, the spokesperson for Netcare 911, the 43-year-old Tulsa sustained very serious injuries, and died on the scene.

Tulsa’s wife, Mariana, said that he was on his way to church to play at the service. “We usually go with him, but that specific morning we (I and our nine-year old son) stayed at home. He kissed me on the cheek to say goodbye, as I was still sleeping. I will always cherish that last kiss,” she told the Record, her voice breaking slightly.

The two passengers in the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were taken to hospital.

Although there are a few rumours about the accident circulating, none has been confirmed and the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
