Beyleveld – “There is nothing more that can be done for him”

Being kept comfortable at Wilgeheuwel hospital

The condition of 67-year-old former super-sleuth, Piet Byleveld, has worsened to such a degree that there is “nothing doctors can do for him anymore”.

This has been confirmed to the Record by a close family friend. He also confirmed reports that “it is not going well” with Byleveld and that doctors are only “keeping him comfortable” at Wilgeheuwel Hospital. Byleveld was admitted to hospital last Tuesday, after experiencing respiratory problems. He was diagnosed with Phase-4 lung cancer in March this year. He also has a tumour on his liver which has spread to his spine and adrenal gland.

During his illustrious 38-year career he worked on high profile cases such as the murders of Leigh Matthews, Sibille Zanner and Sheldean Human, as well as on case involving serial killers Cedric Maake and Lazarus Mazingane.
