Face of Talent Afrika

Boys excel at Talent Africa

The Roux family is all smiles after sons JC, JP and JT excelled at the recent Talent Africa Nationals competition.

Held recently at the Roodepoort Theatre, the national talent competition had participants who qualified at the regional and provincial rounds across the country earlier this year in order to be invited to Nationals. Nationals is the second round, where all provinces compete for a place in the SA team. Twelve-year-old JC was named the Junior Face of Talent Africa and won five gold medals and a silver.

He was also the first runner-up for Mr Talent Africa Junior, capping off a big night for the young man. His younger brother, nine-year-old JP also impressed on the night, winning four gold medals and two silvers. Four-year-old JT was not to be left behind as he won two gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

He also achieved the third overall highest mark in the 3–5 year old age group. The success of the three boys has seen them qualifying for the Talent America International Competition this July. It will be held in New York and the brothers will represent the country. However, their mother, Luitha, is worried about the costs of such a trip. Not wanting to let her sons down, she is appealing to the community to assist their family in any way possible for the trip.

Talent Africa was established with the core objective of creating the most prestigious national talent competition of the highest standard in the country.

The main aim is to give artists with the relevant talent the best opportunity to be exposed to all that the entertainment world can offer on both a national and an international level. The difference is that Talent Africa, through possible partnership with government and non-government organisations, could offer less-privileged individuals a fair chance to receive the correct training and expertise, to ultimately become part of this event.

Talent Africa also shapes each and every young performer who shows talent into a world-class entertainer through national competitions, workshops, pageants, and international exposure to some of the most prestigious events the world has to offer, including the Talent America Competition in New York.
