Baby corpse found in drain in Witpoortjie

Baby said to be about 30cm long.

A family from Boren Street in Witpoortjie and employees of Joburg Water made a gruesome discovery this afternoon (11 April).

Their house’s drain was blocked and they called Joburg Water to investigate. When the Joburg Water employees opened the drain at about 2pm they discovered that the remains of a baby was blocking it. According to a member of the public who was at the scene, the baby was about 30cm long. He said he unfortunately left before the sex of the baby was revealed. The eyewitness said he suspected that the baby had washed down the system from higher up in Boren Street.

The police’s forensic team was on the scene to investigate.
