According to a community member the notorious ‘Rape taxi’ has been involved in another incident this past Sunday at about 11am.
The woman said a family member and her (the victim’s) son allegedly wanted to go to Westgate and boarded a taxi (a white Toyota Quantum) on Ontdekkers Road. When they entered the taxi there were three men inside. As they drove off the men allegedly raped the woman and robbed her. They then drove around Dobsonville and other parts of Soweto, and withdrew money from her account at various ATMs. Eventually they dropped the mother and son off at Ethekwezee Station, after they had given the woman back her sim card and R100 for taxi fare.
When the woman was taken to Baragwanath Hospital a doctor allegedly told her it’s the eighth similar incident they were aware of.
Last year at around April several similar incidents were reported. All the victims said the perpetrators were three men in a white Toyota Quantum minibus.
The police could not be reached to confirm the incident.
