Three reaction officers from two security companies, Tuesday morning (21 March) apprehended a would-be hijacker in Florida Lake.
The drama started at about 8am on Riethaan Street when the three men attempted to hijack a woman. She fought back though and two of the attackers fled in the getaway car, leaving their alleged accomplice behind. He then fled into the Hamerkop Bird Sanctuary. It is alleged by a resident living in the street that on arrival the police refused to pursue the suspect. Hardus Swanepoel, Freddy Esterhuizen (both from Dunmar Security) and Petrus Dladla (Apcan Security) then chased after the suspect and managed to arrest him.
The suspect was detained at Roodepoort Police Station.
