Florida Clinic closes for construction

Patients will still be able to get needed medication

In a recent public meeting held at the Florida Library it was announced that the Florida Clinic would undergo some major upgrades.

But, for these upgrades to be done, the Clinic will have to be closed, leaving residents who visit the facility for their regular medical check-ups and medication a bit unsure about the way forward.

Caleb Finn, the councillor for Ward 70, has confirmed that the Clinic will be closing on 17 March for the planned upgrades to commence. “But this does not mean that residents will be left without medical care. Should you need emergency medical care, a routine check-up or to pick up your medication, you can visit any of the other Clinics in the region, including Discoverers, Rex Street, Helderkruin and Weltevreden Park Clinics,” he said.

This is a temporary arrangement until all the upgrades and renovations are completed. “Although the inconvenience caused by this interim arrangements is regrettable, we are certain that the new Clinic with all the new facilities will be worth it. I have been assured by the City of Johannesburg’s Health Department that the process will run smoothly,” said Caleb.
