Fitness event a success

Adrienne Horn and Richard Ferandes were the ultimate champions during the weekend of 25 and 26 February at the BRD Sports Academy Fitness Competition, which was held at Clearview Village in Florida North.

Athletes who wanted to test their endurance participated in the competition and had to compete in various trials in short periods of time. This competition was a way to attract more potential athletes and celebrate the academy’s new home. The training circuit included rope-skipping, heavy ropes, hammer slams on a tyre and various other workout routines. Each routine not only tested endurance but also the participant’s level of fitness.

The competition was divided into Men’s and Women’s categories. The top three in each category received a meal voucher from Ruimsig’s Pizza Del Forno. The men also received protein shake hampers.

The Academy’s head coach, Manny Fernandes, was pleased with the success of the event. “The competition went very well and we had a good turnout. All the participants worked hard and made the day a success,” said Manny.

Clinching victory in the Men’s and Women’s categories respectively, Richard and Adrienne won the ultimate prize of a R1 000 Food Lovers Market voucher.
