Single Awareness Day

Celebrate being single on #SingleAwarenessDay

15 February – the day after Valentine’s Day – has been designated as Single Awareness Day.

Believed to have been started by a Mississippi State University Student named Dustin Barnes, this day declares to the world that there is nothing wrong with being single.

If you think about it, being unattached has quite a few benefits. Singles can come and go as they please and do not have to factor in a partner’s needs, wants or schedule. For instance, if you get the chance to pursue the career you have always wanted to follow, you do not need to consult a spouse before accepting the offer.

It is also easier for single people to develop and maintain healthy habits – they do not have to struggle with anyone trying to sabotage their efforts to exercise or eat healthy food. On top of that, singletons tend to be more self-reliant.

To celebrate today, participate in local single events.

Use #SingleAwarenessDay to post on social media.
