Open-water swimmer to compete at nationals

A Maragon Private Schools swimmer has been selected to participate in one of the grandest swimming competitions in the country.

Sheldon Lotz will be participating in the Swimming South Africa (SSA) Open Water Swimming Nationals on 4 and 5 March at the North End Lake in Port Elizabeth. He will be competing in the 3km and 5km swim. Earlier this month, Sheldon also participated in the The Maragon Platinum Mile at Buffelspoort. There, he placed 11th in the Mile Swim and fifth overall after competing in the 3km and 5km categories, and the Fun swim. His teammate Bradley Bloem finished the race in fourth position. Maragon teachers Chanel Johnson, Floris du Plooy and Johan Human also participated in the Fun swim with Chanel winning the race.
