A school boy fell prey to an armed robbery yesterday afternoon. The incident took place on South Road close to Rothchild Road, 500m from the 14-year-old boy’s home.
The boy was sent to buy cigarettes and airtime at the store opposite Hoërskool die Adelaar. On his way back home, two men – one white and one coloured – allegedly grabbed him by his arm and while pointing a firearm, they asked him what he had on him. He told them only the cigarettes and airtime. He gave it to them and then managed to run home. According to his family he was extremely traumatised by the incident.
According to the boy the white man was wearing a red cap, brown jeans and a red shirt. He also has a tribal tattoo in his arm. This is allegedly not the first incident in this area. Parents are advised to warn their children to be extra careful when walking in this area.
