Black Friday's geekier cousin is in town
You may be wondering why customers at shops aren’t fighting over trolleys or rolls of toilet paper today. Instead, most are pounding away at their tablets and shouting at the sky to return the network.
That is because today is Cyber Monday, Black Friday’s fancier and less insane cousin. On Cyber Monday, all the shopping is done online, where some of the best deals are found. While Cyber Monday won’t be providing any highlight reels on social media, Roodepoort can still be proud to have provided one of the best Black Friday clips.
The clip, which has gone viral in South Africa and other parts of the world, sees customers fighting over discount toilet paper at Checkers Hyper. The toilet paper was 2-ply so the benefit of the doubt is given to customers, but should the stores get a pass?
Most stores took out stock intermittently to rile customers into a frenzy and keep the interest going rather than take out all the stock on special at once.
