National Button Day

Utilise buttons in a creative way on #NationalButtonDay

16 November is National Button Day – a day dedicated to a hobby that is enjoyed by both novice and advanced button collectors.

The National Button Society, founded in 1938, has recognised button collecting as an organised hobby.

Remember when your mother or grandmother snipped old shirt buttons off and collected them in jars? Maybe you even played games with them or used them for arts and crafts or to make ornaments. Buttons were fun to play with, stack them into piles, sort by colour or size or even scatter or slide them across the table or floor. There were numerous different games you could play using these buttons.

There are thousands of button collectors all over the world. Crafters also utilise buttons in many creative ways and are very good at finding new uses for old items.

Post on social media using #NationalButtonDay.
