Louise has a racket at squash club

Louise Niemann to make a difference

Mrs Africa finalist, Louise Niemann, and the Western Rackets Squash Club hosted a Doubles with a Difference for Dignity tournament recently.

The proceeds from the squash tournament are in aid of Dignity Dreams and Desk Bags, the official Mrs Africa foundations. Dignity Dreams’ goal is to help girls and women reclaim the dignity that poverty denies them and enable girls to make a lasting and positive impact on the communities they live in and society as a whole. This is done by providing reusable sanitary pads which are a sustainable resource, allowing girls to wash and reuse them rather than having to buy disposable sanitary pads every month.

In addition, they are inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Raising funds and educating people about these reusable pads is the part of this initiative that is closest to Louise’s heart.

“It is one of the reasons I am entering the competition. I want to build up the self-worth in society and I do this by giving talks.”

Louise also wants to give the community the tools to be able to rescue and help themselves out of any situation. A squash tournament is different from golf days or high teas and is one way to get the message across. Men had to partner up with a woman or a junior player, which made things exciting. This is one way we can make a positive change in someone’s life,” she said.
Louise is hoping to be crowned Mrs Africa on 16 December at the Protea Hotel.
