Councillor kicks off #ServiceWithPride

Service delivery issues being addressed

The area surrounding the Donovan McDonald Old Age Home was treated to a mini make-over on the afternoon of 25 October.

Caleb Finn, the councillor for Ward 70, realised this area needed some urgent attention. “I did an inspection of the area earlier and was quite concerned. The grass was growing very tall and the paving blocks on the sidewalk had been covered by grass and soil,” he said.

He then made contact with the the relevant managers at Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) as well as Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to assist with the necessary actions needed.

Workers from JCPZ and JRA worked the whole day on 25 October to cut the grass and clean up the sidewalk. By 26 October, the grass was short and the sidewalk was clean and clear of any grass and soil, and the JRA workers were busily disposing of all the soil and grass removed from the sidewalk.

“This is one of many areas in the ward requiring a service delivery blitz. And, one at a time we will get them all sorted to go with our theme #ServiceWithPride,” concluded Finn.
