Lantern pupil excels at adding and subtracting

Grade 6 pupil participated in the Provincial Mathematics Olympiad

Add, subtract, divide and multiply – he can do it all and loves it!

Naoyuki Higaki is a Grade 6 pupil at Lantern School and is excelling at mathematics. He has been a pupil of Lantern since Grade 1 and has always shown a love of this tricky subject.

Earlier this year he entered the Maths Olympiad at Princess Primary where he did very well and qualified to participate in the District Maths Olympiad.

During the district competition he progressed to the Provincial Mathematical Olympiad that took place at Winchester Ridge Primary School in Robertsham, Johannesburg.

Rina la Grange, communications officer at the school said, “In all the rounds he competed against pupils from mainstream schools and did Lantern very proud.

Although we have not received the results from the Department yet, it remains such an achievement for a special education needs (LSEN) pupil to take part with main-stream pupils and do himself proud.”
