Die Ruiter shines at RAK

Pupils make their school proud

Talented pupils from Laerskool Die Ruiter were in their element as they participated in Die Roodepoortse Afrikaanse Kunsvereniging (RAK) competition earlier this month (August). During the competition, talented school teams work their hardest to impress judges with their recitals. Each school team is tasked with choosing two poems or choral verses as well as arts and culture items to present. The competition took place from 26 July to 5 August at different venues such as Laerskool Florida, Helderkruin and Roodekrans.

“Our school has not participated in this event in more than a decade. This is a wonderful platform to showcase our talented pupils. For most of the team members, Afrikaans is their third or fourth language but they performed beautifully,” said Suzette Louw who was one of the teachers who helped the pupils participating to practice for the competition. Suzette’s team performed Dawid en Goliat van Gat and Chrissie Perform. Francesca Moolman was tasked with helping her pupils perform the choral verses titled Seasons and A pot must have a lid.

“We are very proud of our pupils and we are already preparing ourselves for next year where we are aiming to do even better than this year,” said Louw.
