National I Love My Feet Day

Our feet accomplishes things our hands cannot.

17 August is a day to appreciate the value of our feet as it is National I Love My Feet Day!

As our primary mode of transportation they quietly and faithfully help us stand, walk, run, play sports, skip and jump. They take us to school and work and withstand all the things we do in our everyday lives.

Our feet accomplishes things our hands cannot.

It is important to take care of our feet to prevent long term problems caused by wear and tear, disease, bad circulation and ill-fitting shoes.

It is easy to take care of your feet.

To reduce swelling elevate them when you sit and relax. To aid circulation you can stretch, walk, have a gentle massage or a warm foot bath, just make sure your feet are dry before putting on your shoes.

When walking outside make sure to wear shoes to offer more protection to your feet.

Most of the foot problems experienced by adults can be prevented by wearing shoes that fit porperly with good arch supports. Foot massages and regular pedicures can also reduce foot problems.

IA visit to a podiatrist can help in relieving persistent foot pain.

The theme for 2016 is “Healthy Feet are Happy Feet” and to celebrate today go for a relaxing foot massage or treat yourself to a pedicure.
