The Metrobus strike is over as of today.
The union has agreed to Metrobus’ offer to give drivers the full opportunity of progressing to inspectors over a period of time, but parallel with the current one-year contract of the private company that is currently conducting these duties. Metrobus also agreed that all workers will report for duty by today at the latest and it expects to be fully operational.
Mavela Dlamini, Managing Director for Metrobus, said, “We are relieved that the illegal strike is now over and the offer has been accepted. We did not overhaul management and systems, but acquired new buses for better reliable transport to maintain solvency and provide an efficient service to the public.”
