Farmers market remains a firm favourite

Early bird catches the worm.

The Florida Farmers Market has become a favourite attraction not only for Florida residents, but for people from all over the West Rand.

The market on Fourth Avenue, right opposite the Florida Lake, starts as early as 6am on a Saturday and consists of about 60 stalls. One of its most popular stalls is Tony from Tarlton’s fresh vegetables. His produce is often sold out by 8am. Stalls are as varied as the stall owners and visitors. Everything from vinyl records, bicycle frames, books and clothing (both new and second-hand) to power tools can be found at this Saturday morning market.

Visitors can just stroll among the stalls and enjoy the jovial atmosphere or grab a bite and something cold for the throat. The market is perfect for a family outing with the lake as backdrop.
