Five injured in collisions

Collisions on Saturday

One person sustained critical injuries and four others sustained moderate injuries in two separate accidents this weekend (25 and 26 June).

On Saturday afternoon, a collision between two vehicles occurred on Hendrik Potgieter Road, close to Peter Road. ER24 paramedics, City of Johannesburg’s EMS and others services responded to the call-out. Upon arrival at the scene it was found that a Fortuner and a Honda had collided.

Some of the victims were trapped in the vehicles. Fire and Rescue and ER24 paramedics extricated them, using the Jaws of Life. The victims, including a woman who was in a critical condition, were treated and transported to local hospitals for further medical care.

In a separate incident, one person was injured when his vehicle overturned on the same road, just hours after the first accident. Paramedics were swiftly on scene and found that one of the passengers had suffered moderate injuries.

The causes of the incidents are unknown but authorities are investigating.
