30 injured in collision

Cause of accident unknown.

Approximately 30 people were injured in a collision involving two taxis on Main Reef Road near Dobsonville last night.

ER24 crews from Johannesburg North and West as well as various other services attended to the incident.

They found patients lying and sitting around the taxis.

Among the several patients ER24 treated and transported to hospitals were a four-year-old toddler and her mother. The toddler is believed to have been ejected from one of the taxis. She was in a critical condition. Her mother sustained minor injuries.

One of the taxi drivers was trapped in the vehicle. He was extricated by Fire and Rescue and found to have sustained serious injuries.

Patients were treated and transported to various local hospitals including Leratong, Helen Joseph and Chris Hani Baragwanath.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
