The firefighters sent to Canada have shamed our country with their deplorable behaviour.

They all signed contracts with regard to their payment and conditions of employment, but most significantly; this was seen as a humanitarian mission to assist with a natural disaster. After being welcomed as heroes by the Canadians, it took only days before they employed the dancing and refusal to work tactics so prevalent in their homeland, in order to demand higher wages.

With the exception of a few (far left) individuals, most Canadians are thoroughly disgusted with the mercenary conduct displayed by these people. This debacle has done inestimable harm to South Africa’s image, which is already regarded with scorn by many countries. I trust that the authorities will adopt measures to prevent this type of situation from arising again.
