24 Seven jump high in Roodepoort

This club will have you jumping for joy

With an overflowing passion and desire to impart her knowledge, Luitha Roux has opened up 24 Seven Trampoline.

This club will focus on gymnastics, acro-gymnastics and trampoline and will be located at Hoërskool Die Adelaar.

Roux is no stranger to the sport with more than 30 years of experience after being a World Champion in acro-gymnastics at 9 years old.

She then competed in various tournaments including the World Championships in Hawaii where she achieved first and third place finishes.

As she reached the age of 20, she moved over to aerobics and with her talent and hard work became a World Champion three times.

“Gymnastics has various disciplines within so it was easy to participate in the different disciplines and not just excel under one,” she said.

After decades of success on the gymnastics floor, Roux moved on to become a coach.

She started coaching in 2003 after coming back to South Africa from America.

She helped open a gym in San Diego before returning home.

It was in 2012 that she decided to open the club but she unfortunately had to take maternity leave.

This did not stop the club from recruiting members and training but they could not compete in official competition.

Roux returned to her club at the beginning of the year and has vowed her club will be successful this year.

“I was born flexible and with the talent so it was only natural to try continue being a part of the sport I enjoy immensely,” she said.

Roux is now looking to expand her club and promote the sport of trampoline in the community.

“It is a lovely sport and is good for children. That is what I try to impart to my pupils. I don’t put pressure on them to succeed but rather they enjoy the sport and try their best in whatever they do,”said Roux.

There are no age restrictions for those who want to join.

Currently, the youngest member of the club is three years of age while the oldest is 21 years of age.

“They can start jumping from that young an age because the sport is safe. I opened this club so that I can give young children an alternative sport to participate instead of them sitting in front of the television. Here they can have fun and enjoy themselves,” she said.
