The staff is a godsend

I am writing to comment about your article on the Westview Clinic I am a recovering drug addict myself.

I know Wuter personally and would like to say that Freda Steenkamp and all the staff at that clinic are a godsend to addicts and people in need of help. It’s unfortunate that Gloria passed away there and was not able to kick her habit but it is not due to any fault of the staff at the clinic.

I have been in the clinic myself and can vouch that the staff is very professional and does conduct searches and is watchful of people’s activities in the clinic, no medication is issued without the doctors say so and all meds are carefully watched and adjusted.

Unfortunately, as addicts people are able to sometimes get drugs into the clinic but that happens in all rehabs. I have known the staff and clinic for many years and have nothing but admiration towards the work they do and hope that they carry on to do so for many years to come.

It’s a sad thing that happened and I hope it never happens again, but the clinic is not to blame, they have never been anything but helpful and caring towards the plight of addicts, conducting business in a caring but professional way sometimes even waving the fee.
