With reference to my tribute to Rod McGillivray in last week’s Record. It was never my intention to upset Rod’s wife Jean and the family when recalling Rod’s account of the incident at a local clinic. We have always considered the McGillivrays as good friends (and Rod as a wonderful colleague) over many years.

Their love for each other was never in doubt. And to quote a well-known publisher of a motoring magazine: “Rod was always homesick when being away doing motoring tests (in another province). It was obvious he was a family man.”

If I overstepped the mark in my tribute by trying to show Rod’s humorous side, and if it upset Jean and the family, I apologize, and trust they’ll forgive me.
