Pedestrian killed on N1
Four vehicles collide trying to avoid initial accident.
A pedestrian was killed and two other people sustained moderate injuries in a collision on the N1 between 14th Avenue and Gordon Road on Friday evening.
Shortly after 8pm paramedics from ER24 and several other services found a pedestrian lying in the middle of the road. Five damaged vehicles were also at the scene. It is understood that after a vehicle had hit the pedestrian, four other vehicles crashed into each other in an attempt to avoid the initial collision. Two people from the vehicle that had hit the pedestrian were treated for moderate injuries on the scene. Later they were transported to Netcare Olivedale Hospital for further care.
Sadly, there was nothing paramedics could do to save the pedestrian and he was declared dead on the scene.
The incident was handed over to the Johannesburg Metro Police for further investigation.
