New low for those wanting to get high

60 lollies found on one drug dealer.

Florida Police and Florida CPF Sector Two’s efforts to rid the area of its drug scourge, once again paid off this past week.

Last Friday at around noon members of Florida Police were patrolling the precinct when they received a tip-off of a dagga plantation in Zandra Avenue. On arrival they asked the home owner if they can search the property and he agreed. They found a small dagga plantation in the back yard as well some uprooted dagga plants. Two suspects aged 49 and 54 were detained.

An hour later on the same day while patrolling members of the Police noticed a man entering a block of flats in Fieldhouse Street which is a well known drug hotspot. After a while the suspect came out of the block of flats carrying a potato chips packet. The Police stopped and searched him. Inside the packet they found dagga and a pipe to smoke it with. The 23-year-old suspect was detained and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of dagga.

The next day at around 8.20am the Police received information of a suspicious looking white Renault driving around the area. They spotted the vehicle and started following it. The suspect stopped and went into a block of flats. When he came out the Police pounced and found 104.73 grams of an unknown drug in his vehicle. The 30-year-old suspect, a foreign national, was detained at Florida Police Station.

The final success for the week came when the Sector Two CPF were patrolling last night and saw a drug deal in progress. The drug dealer spotted the CPF members and ran into a property. Along with the Police they entered the premises and searched it. They found six packets of CAT and 60 lollies (a glass pipe used to smoke crystal methamphetamine with). The suspect was arrested and detained.
