Councillor Suzanne Clarke writes:

The draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) was tabled before council and plans to take to communities for further input.

On 15 Apri starting at 5pm at the Roodepoort City Hall, residents of wards in Roodepoort and surrounding areas will have ample opportunities to shape the immediate future of the City through their participation in the IDP process.

This is a consultative process to encourage local communities such as residents, businesses and opinion leaders to participate in the local government for institutional priorities relating to service delivery.

This process which involves the holding of a series of public participation meetings covering all the wards within a municipality. Culminates in a multi-year strategic vision called the IDP.

The 2016 IDP is of particular importance because it comes at the end of the current term of office of the Council elected in 2011.

This IDP therefore connects the work done over the past five years with the mandate to be given to a newly elected Council that will take Johannesburg towards 2021.

I am requesting residents to please make an effort to participate and to give inputs in this process.
