Chainsaw update: Community sides with tree feller

Community blaming bad governance.

Members of the community are outraged after a breadwinner from Princess informal settlement, Eric Lekgetho, has been without an income for two months due to the Metro Police confiscating his two chainsaws.

They shared their views and vented their anger on social media.

Mark Mulder wrote “retards. All I can say unfortunately” and Kemang Ntshayateng added that “it is heartbreaking. Metro Police’s by-laws hit unemployed people hard and this encourages the needy to steal . My question is what about the those who stand at the intersection begging for money? They never arrest them. Anyway, METRO IS CORRUPT”.

Colette En Kobie Morton wrote “That’s our goverment. Don’t care about no one but themselves!” while Michelle Schreuder Rankin called it “shocking – I would rather he work than steal for a living!”. According to Belinda Mulder Pretorius it is “disgusting! No wonder South Africa is falling apart. There is absolutely no logic here!”
