Police had to escort Netcare 911 paramedics to hospital when they transported a suspect who had sustained a gunshot wound during an attempted robbery.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at a house in Van der Rijst Avenue in Westgate Park.
Netcare 911 paramedics were on scene swiftly and stabilised the injured man.
The suspect is recovering in hospital under police guard.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the exact details of what had happened will form part of a police investigation.
