Protest leads to road closures

Avoid Peter Road.

The violent protests by residents of the Zandspruit informal settlement have led to several roads being closed in the Honeydew area. Motorists should avoid them at all costs.

Protesters have been pelting vehicles with rocks on Beyers Naude Drive and vandalised a service station on Peter Road. Metro Police have closed down these roads. Reports are that the protesters now have started invading properties on Marina Drive as well.

The rioting allegedly is about a lack of electricity after cables had been stolen.
