Club members looking for their next project

The West Rand Videography Club is opening its arms to the community.

With a passion for making videos, editing and having fun with holiday videos, the club is looking for like minded members.

The club started 17 years ago and was hosted at the Discovery Bowling Club but over the years the club has moved around.

Then two years ago the club returned to bowling club where they hold their monthly meetings every fourth Wednesday of the month.

From 7pm until late, the club members get together and discuss how to perfect the art of taking a video.

“If someone joins, their family is automatically non-voting club members because this club is family orientated and not exclusive based on gender, age or race,” said the club’s executive committee member Colin Stevens.

“We consist of members who’s hobby is to improve the end result of thirr holidays and family functions. We have social evenings and run internal competitions. Our club also loves to give back to the community by assisting a registered charity. In recent years we’ve helped the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA) with a video and that has given them a chance to market themselves using the video,” added Stevens.

With the video helping the organization, the club is looking for its next challenge.

The members are looking for an organization so they can produce a DVD that covers their activities with the view for them to distribute a limited number of discs to potential donors in an effort to raise funds for their given cause.

“We have professionals in the club who give us tips in such areas as lighting and sound so being in the club is beneficial. We give each other constructive criticism and share tricks that will help us improve our video taking and making skills,” said Stevens.
