Wet weather ahead, possible flooding

No hail expected.

Roodepoort residents can get their Wellington boots out as a wet week lies ahead.

Not only residents in Gauteng, but also North West, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Free State and Kwa-Zulu Natal can look forward to rainfall.

Until Saturday there is between a 60 and 80 per cent chance of rain daily. Although no hail has been predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will take place on a daily basis. The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) also warned of the possibility of flash flooding and said that it can take place within minutes or hours of a heavy downpour.

Today is probably the last day of temperatures in the 30’s and the rest of the week will be in the low to mid 20’s. Wednesday will only reach a high of 22°. This trend of lower temperatures will continue deep into next week.

Currently five provinces have been declared disaster areas due to the drought the country is suffering.
