Georginia murder suspect released on bail

Suspect to appear again 4 April.

Morris Henning, 66, who is being accused of having shot dead his daughter’s common-law husband, Dylan Vos, 43, has been released on bail.

Henning appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court today (23 February) and was released on R2 000 bail.

On the evening of 6 February Vos, a father of four, was shot at close range in Henning’s home, which Vos and his common-law wife shared with the 66-year-old. After a long period of conflict between the two men Vos and Henning allegedly started arguing on the fateful evening. Vos followed Henning to his bedroom. The suspect told him to leave his room or else he would shoot him. Vos then replied “go ahead and shoot me”. Henning produced a shotgun and shot Vos in the stomach. He died soon after arriving at the hospital.

Henning is to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court again on 4 April.
