City Power pleads for participation

Entity pleading with residents to help them catch those who make illegal connections.

On social media and their website, City Power yesterday plead for public participation in stopping cable theft.

The entity said cable theft, structural damage and general network vandalism is on the rise. It plead with the city’s residents to keep reporting these incidents, providing several contact numbers to do so.

Another issue they highlighted was reclaimers walking the streets with cable cargo in their makeshift trolleys, saying they are possibly involved in illegal connections or selling cables to scrap yards and should also be reported.

Especially Princess and Grobler Park have issues with illegal connections and vandalised substations. It is an issue the entity, Metro Police and Roodepoort Police attempted addressing in January, only to have illegal connections back up hours later.

All these issues can be reported 24/7 on the following numbers:

• 011 490 7553

• 011 490 7900

• 011 490 7911

• 011 490 7504
