Havies thrill the crowd

Rugby games at Laerskool Dr Havinga.

Parents and pupils of Laerskool Dr Havinga were treated to a feast of rugby as the school welcomed Krugersdorp’s Laerskool Protearif.

The home players did not disappoint in their first game of the school year as they played their hearts out for victory.

The U/9 A team lost their match 19-17 but the U/9 B restored calm and they won 10-0.

The U/10 A team drew 10-10 with their opponents while the U/11 A team won their match 7-0.

The second team was next on the field and played a thrilling match. They home team prevailed over their opponents 31-26.

The final match of the day was the first team battle which proved to be exciting for the home supporters.

Havies boys blew their opponents out of the water and recorded a mammoth 44-0 victory.

Head coach of the first team Johann Waldeck was pleased with the day’s proceedings.

“It is the first game of the season so I am happy the boys won. However, there are things we still need to work on like playing as a team instead of individuals. There is still room for improvement so we will work hard moving forward,” he said.
