Singles are loved too!

You can be more selfish.

Are you sick of Valentine’s Day? So were the creators of Singles Awareness Day on 15 February.

This day, a compliment of Valentine’s Day, was created in spite of the famous love day as a reminder that you don’t have to be single to celebrate life. Sick of feeling left out, singles created their own day to get together, share gifts and have solo parties.

Many people celebrate this day by avoiding Valentine’s Day altogether by traveling to Brazil (where Valentine’s Day isn’t celebrated until June) for the Brazilian Carnival. This allows a chance to skip Valentine’s day and celebrate singleness at the same time.

Here are some benefits of being single:

1. You spend less money on others and more on yourself. Without a significant other to worry about, there is more time to selfishly indulge.

2. Valentines Day is a breeze. No last minute plans or stress of finding the perfect gift, you can just do whatever you want.

3. There is more time to focus on you. A single period is the perfect time to work on yourself and grow as person. Practice that self love!

4. Being single teaches you independence. With no one around to help out, you learn to be tough and do things on your own.

5. You get the whole bed to yourself. And what’s better than stretching out on a comfy bed at the end of a rough day?

How will you make a single feel appreciated today?
