Although there has been some negative and discouraging predictions about the prospects for 2016, effective service delivery in the Greater Florida area is non-negotiable.

That is why the ON Florida Community Forum is gearing itself to make a more concerted effort for the overall improvement of service delivery, its primary focus in 2016.

Last year some exciting projects were successfully launched. The cleanup operation of the drug peddling in Rail Street, the revamping of the local drug action campaign, the improvement of the infrastructure at Len Rutter Park to accommodate more that five hundred runners over weekends, the Heritage Day festivities at Florida Lake in collaboration with the Dragon Boar Club and the upgrading of the Hammerkop Bird Sanctuary with the financial assistance of Primedia come to mind.

This year the focus is going to be primarily on a better and more efficient service delivery campaign in our designated communities. This this end the forum will hold its first public meeting on 11 February at the Rainbow FM centre to compile a hit list of service delivery issues that need to be addressed. A special effort is being made to invite persons who have the experience, the passion and the time to serve on the Executive Committee or to supplement the various portfolios.

Ideally an enlarged team of delegated and dedicated members should be tackling the hit list to the benefit of our various communities. The presence of representatives from the other nine active community forums and the community policing forums will also be sought to five the campaign more impetus.

The CPFs have lately become more involved in service delivery issues int heir areas and would therefore make a meaningful contribution to the more encompassing ON Florida set-up.
