Do you celebrate Day of Reconciliation?

This day came into effect in 1994.

Although many people celebrate Day of Reconciliation by not going to work because it is a public holiday, very few know its origin.

This day which was formally known as the Day of the Vow, came into effect in 1994 after the end of apartheid, with the intention of fostering reconciliation and national unity. It also originated in 1838.

The date was chosen because it was significant to both Afrikaner and African cultures.

According to Wikipedia, those who celebrate the holiday argue that commemoration has nothing to do with racial dynamics. They are simply remembering to give thanks for deliverance from certain destruction.

How do you plan on celebrating Day of Reconciliation?
