Princess High’s chess team on top

Princess High School's chess team on top of the world.

It has been a rather successful year for Princess High School’s Chess teams.

Led by the school staff’s Simbarashe Mudungwe, Reason Ndimande and Simon Mirenzheni, the chess team outdid themselves as they took on some of the West Rand’s established school teams.

At the Johannesburg West District that occurred recently, the school competed against four school teams. In the competition, Princess High’s U/18 team came first with 13½ points out of 18 points.

The team also played three games with six players per game.

The U/18 team came first, claiming a trophy and gold medal while the U/15 team came in third position and were awarded bronze medals.

At the Johannesburg West District’s Cluster League, Princess High School’s team finished in second position.

They were playing against top schools such as Allen Glen High, La Salle College and Hoërskool Florida.
