Elaine Whittal retires from On Florida

She is retiring after 40 years.

Elaine Whittal, one of the founders of the On Florida Community Forum, has retired after serving as a secretary in the Florida community for 40 years.

She resided in the Florida for more than 40 years and in that time played a key role in a number of community related organisations.

Some of these organisations include the Florida Swimming Club, Florida Water Polo Club, Westlake Neighbourhood Watch, On Florida, Friends of the Hammerkop Bird Sanctuary and more.

Often described as feisty at times by her colleague Caleb Finn, he also says she has a heart bigger than her body.

He added she would often call him enraged about some injustice in the area and she would want immediate action even if it was not possible at the time.

Although she served as a secretary at On Florida, she had her hand in every pie. In other words, she was involved in other aspects of the forum as well, such as organising events.

“Elaine has truly taught us a lot and was not only a colleague but an amazing pillar of support at all times,” Caleb said.

She has decided to relocate to a smaller place in Honeydew.

Caleb joked she may still be slightly involved at On Florida by making sure they are doing what they are supposed to.

“The On Florida team will surely miss her active involvement in the organisation because she has shown us what it means to truly value and love our community.”
