Here’s why you should floss daily

Flossing protects your gums too.

Flossing is an important step to prevent gum disease and cavities.

It also removes plaque from areas between your teeth where a toothbrush is ineffective.

National Flossing Day creates awareness for the importance of flossing and also encourages people to floss at least once a day.

Here are ways flossing daily will benefit you:

• Flossing can prevent your teeth from falling out. It removes the bacteria caused by previous food you ate and it also protects teeth from disease.

• It may help prevent heart and other diseases. If you have diabetes, you are at an increased risk of gum disease.

• It helps get rid of dry mouth. Saliva is a natural disinfectant in your mouth. Regular flossing helps to compensate for the lack of saliva by scraping off the bacteria that the saliva would have killed.

• You can save a lot of money. Treating your teeth or a gum disease because of not looking properly after it might be costly. By flossing, you prevent diseases which saves you money.

• Floss can remove the tartar build-up from around the gums.
