Dog fighting suspects released with a warning

All five suspects were released on bail.

Tshepisong – The five suspects that was arrested for a dog fighting ring in Tshepisong was released with a warning.

According to Capt Appel Ernst from Randfontein Police, two of the suspects appeared on 9 November while the other three appeared on 19 November in the Kagiso Magistrate Court,

“Although the docket is still at the court, we could determine that the five suspects were released with a warning,” she said. Ernst added the prosecutor felt there were not sufficient evidence to continue with the case.

“Warrant Officer Maila, the investigating officer is continuing with the investigation and he said he still needs a few affidavits.”
The prosecutor said the suspects will be back in court as soon as the investigations were concluded.

Dog fighting ring busted

Five suspects were arrested and eight dogs apprehended after months of tracking and investigating information received from a community member in Tshepisong.
Cora Bailey from Community Led Animal Welfare took this information to a special unit of the National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) and together they arrested the five suspects.
The Record contacted Kagiso Magistrate Court to obtain more information, but the phone was left ringing.
