Be the voice for those who cannot speak

The Record needs your help with this project.

Edward McLean, on behalf of his sister Amelia Smit, donated the first bag of dog food to Roodepoort animal shelter.

The Record launched this project to collect as many dog and cat food, blankets and second-hand clothing with the aim of helping the animal shelters in Roodepoort during the Festive Season when so many animals are either neglected, abused, lost or abandoned.

According to Cora Bailey from Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw), the shelters are inundated with animals they have to care for and because many families go on holiday, the animals are left behind. “During New Year it is especially bad because pets are afraid of fireworks and often jump the fence.”

The Record appeals to the community to think open their heart and wallets to care for those who don’t have a voice.

All donations can be handed in at the Record’s office on the corner of Generaal Pienaar and Ham Street, Witpoortjie. Call the editor, Roelien Vorster on 011-955-1130 for more information.
