Elderly couple robbed and burned by domestic worker

Here are how Facebook users responded to the article:

Jenel Subban: I don’t understand why people who rob and steal still have to be vicious and cruel. Just take what you want and leave! There is no need to hurt another human being who has worked so hard for the the stuff you are stealing.

Deborah Fortuin: This is so sad. I do everything myself because I can’t even afford help, but let’s not paint all domestic workers help with the same brush. And yes, if you treat an human being with respect you get respect in return.

Susan Evans: There is no excuse to harm someone like that. Go to the CCMA or Labour Department if you think you are being treated unfairly. I hope they catch her. Best wishes to her employer and speedy recovery.

Trent Pontus: This is why is so important to do reference checks employees. Also always keep a copy of their ID and proof of residence in a file away from home.

Edwina Stokes Welgemoed: That is why I trust no one and I do my own cleaning and gardening.

Ella Badenhorst: Convicted or not, people should stop entrusting their household to a domestic worker and start doing things themselves. Statistics show domestic workers are responsible for revealing inside information. So no thank you!
