Warriors ring the ball

The Warriors Ringball Club celebrate a year filled with success.

It has been an exciting year for the Warriors Ringball Club.

They successfully established a U/11, U/15 girls, U/17 boys, a men’s and women’s A and B teams.

They then hosted the Gauteng Federation trials and team announcement.

This led to the club’s entire U/17 boys team and one U/17 girls player to be selected to represent Gauteng national team.

The club also had the honour of having 36 of their registered players participating in the South African National Championships last month in Margate.

14 of those players were selected into the South African squad.

At the national championships, Ian Botha was voted junior player of the year and his club mate Destenay Piater was voted senior player of the year and captain of the national team.

Nico Furno was selected national captain of the U/23 team.

The ringball club also had their prize giving ceremony this weekend (31 October).

Ricardo Duxbury was awarded junior upcoming player and Botha was named boys player of the year.

Vicky Pieterse was named girls upcoming player of the year and Twanette Staunton was named junior girls player of the year.

Iain McMillan was awarded the senior men’s upcoming player of the year and Furno was named senior men’s player of the year.

The upcoming senior women’s player of the year went to Katelyn Cosmo and Piater was named senior women’s player of the year.
