Dog mauled to death

The dog died a few days later.

Severe bite marks a border collie sustained after a brutal attack from a pit bull lead to his death on 25 September.

The border collie, a trained rescue dog who was known as Dot Com was walking with his owner when a pit bull came from nowhere and attacked him.

“The dog approached Dot Com viciously from the side and immediately pushed him on his back. As soon as Dot Com was on his back, the pit bull aimed straight for his neck,” said Dot Com’s owner, only known as Maria.

Dot Com died on 1 October because of the severity of his injuries.

“While the attack took place, I tried to get the pit bull to leave Dot Com alone but failed.”

According to Maria, a group of people came out of their homes, witnessed the incident and went back into their homes without helping.

She added two Samaritans came to their rescue and transported them back home.

Maria said the incident left her emotional because Dot Com was her companion and a good rescue therapy dog.

“I would like to raise awareness because of this and many dog owners should beware of their vicious dogs and look after them.”

She believes the incident could have been avoided.
