Horizon View hosts Market Day

Grade 7 pupils dressed up to their aspiring profession.

Horizon View Primary School hosted their annual grade 7 Entrepreneurs Day (01 October).

While the grade 7’s manned their stalls, pupils were invited to buy from them and were treated to soccer matches and jumping castles.

The school invited judges from different businesses such as Viva Engineering, Kimylan Stationers, KFC Florida and PNA Village Horizon to sponsor the day and to evaluate the pupils and their stalls.

They also showcased their own business expertise and encouraged the pupils on how to run a successful business.

“The pupils had to be creative with their stalls so we had beauty shops, game, hair colouring and food stalls. This is part of their assessment so at the end of the day they will make an income and expenditure report,” said the school’s Head of Department Ronnie Pick.

Teachers and judges could be seen walking around the stalls, giving advice to pupils on how to attract customers if the pupils were struggling and how to make a profit without increasing the selling price too much.

The grade 7 pupils, together with the school who held a casual day, will give 10% of the profit they made to a charity of their choice next term.
